After an experiment that goes horribly awry when an unexpected Resonance Cascade (an apparently completely fictitious occurrence) rips dimensional seams that devastate the facility, Gordon must fight to escape the now alien-infested facility as creatures from another world - known as Xen - subsequently enter through these dimensional seams.

Gordon Freeman, a recent MIT graduate in theoretical physics, and also a recent employee at Black Mesa. It's much scarier than 100's of fast zombies spaminglly jumping at your faceĪ lot of potential with the atmosphere though I like it a lot.In Half-Life, players assume the role of the protagonist, Dr.

Scariest parts are usually when tension builds up while nothing is happening but you're expecting something to pop up at any second. Overall I'd recommend less quantity of enemies, and focus less numbers but on how they could ambush you and make them harder to deal with. One thing that always got me was then zombies sneaked up on me without making any sounds. Maybe replace them with some sort of corpse-ish rebel skin. Rouge rebels or whatever you would call them didn't really seem to fit or at least they were a bit goofy, also some of them made female sounds while they had male model. I think it's atmosphere can carry itself, doesn't need the flare mechanic, I'd put a flashlight that lasts infinitely since then you could focus on the actual environment without having to annoyingly recharge every 2 seconds. While we're on that I really liked how much you've managed to change in enemy behavior with just including map files, props for that.ĭidn't like the flares and flashlight running out so quickly just annoying since I can't see where I'm going. I really liked the atmosphere, tho stalkers need a death animation they just phase out of existence, maybe reskin the zombies to something more distinctive (preferably get rid of headcrabs) though I guess that'd need more than just map files. I could not for the life of me get past the part where you run from the horde and wait for the gate to open so you can crouch under it, didn't even wanna bother without cheats for how many enemies are thrown at you, no idea how you meant for that to work with so little ammo.
